Tirupati MP Chinta Mohan is now pitching for the metro rail project to Tirupati
TIRUPATI: Buoyed by the Centre’s nod for two major projects — the international airport at Renigunta close to Tirupati and upgradation of
Tirupati railway station to international standards, Tirupati MP Chinta Mohan is now pitching for the metro rail project to solve the burgeoning traffic woes of the temple town.
The MP, in a recent letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, said the metro rail could ease the traffic congestion in the temple town to a large extent and urged him to consider granting the prestigious project to Tirupati.

No more Rs 100 cellar tickets
TIRUMALA: Facing criticism from various quarters over the way the temple affairs are being managed, the trust board of the Tirumala Tirupati
Devasthanam (TTD) took some key decisions, including setting up of a special wing to safeguard Lord Balaji’s jewels and reforming the darshan system for the benefit of common pilgrims.
The board, which met here on Tuesday, cancelled the Rs 200 `archana anantara darshan’, Rs 100 cellar and Rs 50 darshan tickets and introduced a new Rs 300 `sheegra darshan’ ticket. “Our emphasis is on enabling the pilgrims to have an easy and speedy darshan through the `sheegra darshan’ ticket,” board chief D K Adikeshavulu Naidu said.

The Laddoo is now protected under law and nobody can copy it
Tirupati laddoo offered to devotees at the Lord Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh has been awarded geographical copyright.
This bars others from naming or marketing the sweetmeat preparation under the same name.
The Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams, a trust that administers the Venkateswara Temple in the Tirumala hills, had applied for Geographical Indication (GI) with the Chennai-based Geographical Indication Registry in March 2008.
“The GI certificate for Tirupati Laddoo has been granted to the trust (TTD). The Laddoo is now protected under law and nobody can copy it,” Assistant Registrar of Trade Marks and GI, GL Verma told PTI.
